Oncology Yoga Training
Join Shelley Pentony, certified Oncology Yoga Practitioner through the world’s leading Oncology Yoga Certification program, Y4C, to learn about yoga as an integrative practice to address and support both active treatment cancer patients and survivors.
This training will include exploring the newest and most innovative research that looks at the intersection of Oncology and Yoga as well as her many years of experience teaching yoga and meditation to cancer patients as part of a medical team. You will learn how to safely and effectively teach yoga, pranayama and meditation to students at any point in their cancer journey, while understanding the unique barriers, considerations and precautions that those students potentially face.
Participants will learn about cancer, how it is diagnosed, treated and managed as well as the many side effects that yoga helps to mitigate and ease. We will explore the tools needed to feel confident not only teaching cancer patients the healing practice of yoga but also with the ability to develop individualized, safe and appropriate treatment plans and goals for your students. You will learn skills to prepare you to potentially work in a hospital or medical setting, as part of a collaborative, integrative and goal oriented team.
This training will be full of mindful moments, tending to our own nervous systems, community connection, and personally engaging in the healing, body based techniques we will be learning about so that our group is supported and resourced while exploring these heavy topics in our mind and body
Yoga & Recovery
Yoga is recovery; Recovery is yoga. Join us for this 20 hour program to dive deeper into this topic and learn how the traditional 12 steps and the 8 limbs of yoga are a 1-2 punch for a tremdous healing and recovery from all forms of addiction. Both time tested processes and cutting edge research reveals how interoception, connection and interdependency are the antedote to addiction.
This training will include accessible practices, lecture, discussion and resources and is open to anyone seeking information or an experience of the intersection between traditional 12 step recovery and the path of yoga and meditation. CEU’s available.
Lead Trainer for Yoga for Recovery Weekend Training
DORCAS QUYNN, E-RYT, YACEP
Founder & Owner of Sol Yoga Studio, Dorcas will join us to deepen the study of yoga in all of its wonders and opportunities.
Dorcas is a seeker and believes we are a container of spirit. Our physical body (container) is as important to tend to as our mind and the spirit that lies within. Yoga has been a beloved friend to her for 25 years along with the study of wise words from many philosophical, physical arts and religious traditions throughout her life.
Her inspirations are the unsung heroes and the selfless servants that hug the leper and take in the orphan. There is something radically devotional in her that has been tempered thus far. But yoga is working on her and continues to bring her into alignment with her deepest calling.
One of her favorite things is connecting deeply with other human beings and seeing beyond perceived boundaries and limitations. Her aim is to cast fear aside and let love lead her thoughts words and actions. She believes healed people heal people and the work begins within but together WE can dismantle the barriers that exclude, divide and cause suffering.
